This impressive pancake is baked in the oven, and rises like a soufflé, baking into a light airy pancake with sides. It couldn’t be more simple to make, I found this in my recipe file with a list of 3 ingredients and a single line of directions (I’ve add a few more details here, but it’s really that simple). Try this recipe the next time you want to serve up something spectacular.
Easy Oven Baked German Puff Pancakes
Ingredients
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flourDirections
Preheat oven to 450° F. Place 1 tablespoon butter in bottom of 10-inch round oven proof baking dish; place in the oven and heat until hot.Meanwhile, prepare batter. Beat eggs in large bowl until light and frothy; add remaining ingredients; mix well.
Remove hot baking dish from oven; pour in prepared batter. Return to oven and bake at 450°F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove from oven, serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or your favorite topping.
NOTE: Pancake will begin to deflate when removed from oven.
TOPPING/FILLING SUGGESTIONS:
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice (classic)
Your favorite flavored syrup
Assortment of fresh sliced fruits and a drizzle of honey
Canned fruit fillings, warmed or cool
