Easy Oven Baked German Puff Pancakes

This impressive pancake is baked in the oven, and rises like a soufflé, baking into a light airy pancake with sides. It couldn’t be more simple to make, I found this in my recipe file with a list of 3 ingredients and a single line of directions (I’ve add a few more details here, but it’s really that simple). Try this recipe the next time you want to serve up something spectacular.

Easy Oven Baked German Puff Pancakes

3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour

Preheat oven to 450° F. Place 1 tablespoon butter in bottom of 10-inch round oven proof baking dish; place in the oven and heat until hot.

Meanwhile, prepare batter. Beat eggs in large bowl until light and frothy; add remaining ingredients; mix well.

Remove hot baking dish from oven; pour in prepared batter. Return to oven and bake at 450°F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove from oven, serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or your favorite topping.

NOTE: Pancake will begin to deflate when removed from oven.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice (classic)
Your favorite flavored syrup
Assortment of fresh sliced fruits and a drizzle of honey
Canned fruit fillings, warmed or cool
Applesauce and a sprinkle of cinnamon
Whipped cream and fresh berries

  1. This goes really well with Nutella and some powdered sugar. I made it for my sister when she came to visit and she wanted it almost every morning.
