Layers of Chocolate, Cream Cheese and Fresh Strawberries…Simply Decadent!

What better way to start my blog than a sweet and decadent 3-layer dessert. I have had this recipe in my collection for about 10 years now, and usually make it in the Spring, but it can be made anytime fresh strawberries are available. The finished pie looks like it took hours to make, but with the use of convenience products this pie is simple!

Decadent Strawberry Chocolate Pie

1/2 (15-oz) Pkg. Refrigerated Pie Crusts

2/3 cup hot fudge ice cream topping
1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1 pint (2 cups) fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced ΒΌ-inch thick
2 tablespoons currant or apple jelly (optional)
1/2 cup whipping cream, whipped, if desired

Heat oven to 450F. Prepare pie crusts according to package directions for one-crust baked shell using 9-inch pie pan. Bake at 450F for 9-11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely. Spread hot fudge topping over bottom of cooled baked shell. Refrigerate 1 hour.

In small bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar and orange peel; beat until smooth. Carefully spread over chocolate layer. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.

Just before serving, arrange rings of sliced strawberries over cream cheese layer, starting at outside edge and slightly overlapping each consecutive ring.

If desired, melt jelly in small saucepan over low heat; cool slightly. Brush over strawberries. Serve pie topped with whipped cream. Store in refrigerator. 8 Servings.
